About Vic

Born in Santiago de Cali, Colombia, I discovered photography around the age of seventeen, through my interest in cinema. I was fascinated by the way films and music videos used light, composition, and atmosphere to create a feeling and tell a story. In that pursuit of cinema, I decided to formally study professional photography as a way to get closer to that visual language and understand it for myself. Along the way, I inherited my grandfather’s cameras. He was a young farmer and amateur photographer who traveled through his region photographing local people and selling their portraits. My fascination with analog format and that instinctive need to work with those 35 mm and Polaroid cameras shaped my interest in light, texture, and the process behind each image—not only as something to capture and show, but as something to observe, study, and understand. Although I eventually stepped away from photography as a business, I never stepped away from the art. It remained with me, influencing the way I see, create, and approach an image.

Today, in 2026, from my own studio—a place where I can bring that perspective back into my work and continue creating images with intention, personality, and a strong sense of authorship.
